Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we hear most. If yours is not here, email us.
-
How do I create a folder and add documents?
Open Common Ground and tap New workspace in the sidebar. A workspace is a folder for one part of your life. Give it a name, for example "Health" or "Apartment".
To add documents, drop them into the workspace inbox. You can add PDFs, images, spreadsheets and text files. The AI then files them where they belong and writes a summary page you can read and edit.
-
How do I share a folder with someone, and what will they see?
Open the workspace, go to Members, and invite the person by email. You choose their role: reader can only read, editor can also add and change documents, owner can manage members and delete the workspace.
They see only that workspace, with the rights you gave them. They never see your other workspaces. You can change their role or remove them at any time, from the same place.
-
What does the AI do with my documents, and which AI provider is used?
The AI reads the documents you drop in a workspace, files them, writes summary pages, and answers your questions about the file. It organizes and drafts. It does not give medical, legal or financial advice.
Answers come from large language models run by third-party providers, such as Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Google and Mistral. You pick the model in the app. The default model is [default model, for example Claude Sonnet]. The full list of providers and links to their privacy policies is in our Privacy Policy.
-
Do I need my own API key?
No. The app works out of the box with the models we provide. Adding your own key is optional. If you have a key from a provider such as Anthropic or OpenAI, you can add it under API Keys (BYOK) in the profile menu. Your key is stored encrypted and is used only for your own requests.
-
How do I connect my own AI assistant via MCP?
Common Ground is an MCP server. That is a standard way for assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code to work in your workspaces with your rights. You add one address to your assistant, sign in with your Common Ground account, and choose read only or read and write.
The step-by-step guide for each assistant is at cg.ormind.ai/connect.html. You can revoke the connection at any time from your assistant's settings.
-
How do I export my data, and in what format?
Open a workspace, tap ⋮ then Export archive. You get a ZIP file with all the documents you dropped in, plus the pages the AI wrote, as plain Markdown text. You can open it on any computer without Common Ground. The same archive can be imported back into Common Ground later.
Owners can also download the workspace as an OKF bundle, a smaller ZIP that contains only the wiki pages and skills, for exchange with other tools.
-
How do I delete a folder, or delete my account and all my data?
To delete a workspace, open it as its owner, tap ⋮ then Delete workspace, and confirm. Its documents and pages are removed for every member. Export it first if you want to keep a copy.
To delete your account and all your data, see Account and data deletion below.
-
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We do not use your documents, pages or conversations to train AI models. We reach the model providers through their business API endpoints, which by their terms do not use submitted content for training.
-
Which languages and devices are supported?
The app interface is in English. The AI answers in the language you write in, including French.
Common Ground runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS [minimum iOS version] or later, and in any modern web browser at cg.ormind.ai. The same account and the same workspaces are available on every device.
Account and data deletion
You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app, in under a minute. No email is needed.
From inside the app
- Open Common Ground and tap your name or avatar to open the profile menu.
- Tap Delete account at the bottom of the menu.
- Read what will be removed, then confirm.
Deletion removes your account, your conversations, your files, your workspaces where you are the only owner, and any API keys you stored. This cannot be undone. Export your workspaces first if you want to keep a copy.
Content you contributed to a workspace shared with other people stays visible to those members, no longer linked to an active account.
By email
If you cannot sign in, or prefer to write to us, send an email from the address linked to your account to support@ormind.ai with the subject "Common Ground account deletion". We delete the account and confirm by reply within [number] business days.
